Bridget and Kate’s commitment is to provide a high standard of childcare and education, in a secure and happy environment.

This modern nursery has bright, welcoming rooms, a secure garden and its own indoor gym area for wet days. Tiny Beginnings overlooks Chippenham Park, offering plentiful opportunities for picnics and strolls in the sunshine and a chance to appreciate seasonal changes in nature.

At the same time, the nursery nestles adjacent to the town centre with all its shopping and parking facilities. Visits to the pet shop and expeditions to buy ingredients for cooking sessions are the norm! (With parental consent of course!)

Our Mission Statement:

‘We believe that the first years of your child's life are the most vital. Our aim is to nurture happy children during these years, in a caring and homely setting.’

Registered and regulated by the Care Standards Inspectorate for Wales, Tiny Beginnings is also recognised as an LEA provider for 3 year-olds.  This means that we provide pre-school education for 3 year olds, and in the term following their 3rd birthday, your child is entitled to five subsidised sessions a week, funded by Monmouthshire Education Authority.

All the team at Tiny Beginnings have passed CRB checks and fully qualified leaders with experienced assistants provide a caring and happy environment in which your child can develop and learn through their play.

Each staff member cares for a small group of children within the three age groups outlined below. Within these groups, the children enjoy a variety of activities, which promote their physical, intellectual, social and emotional development.

LEARNING THROUGH PLAY

Our Curriculum is based on the requirements of each group. These are “Birth to Three Matters", in the Tinies and Toddlers group, and the Desirable Outcomes in the Tops pre-school group. We are very excited to be working towards the implementation of the Foundation Phase with the age group.

In all age groups, activities are devised to promote children’s physical, intellectual, social and emotional development. In cosy groups, the children enjoy a variety of activities appropriate to their age and development. Creative areas include sand, water, craft, paint and other tactile play. Areas to enjoy books, computer activities, puzzles and construction are provided.

The garden has been developed as a multi-sensory area, where children can experience the curriculum outdoors. Children experience the delights of growing their own vegetables for the kitchen, hunting for mini beasts, making dens to enhance role play, even making music in the outdoors. We also have a range of climbing and ride on equipment.

Our fully qualified leaders, with experienced assistants, provide a caring and happy environment in which your child can develop and learn through their play. The Nursery is run through the medium of English however in line with the requirements of the Desirable Outcomes and the Foundation Phase curriculum, pre-school children also learn songs, rhymes, colours, numbers and phrases through the medium of Welsh – assisted by our well loved dragon, Idris!

FACILITIES

Our modern nursery has bright, welcoming rooms and a secure garden. Here we acknowledge the importance of children exploring the outdoors. The nursery also has its own indoor gym area. Here children are encouraged to take part in invigorating physical activity using our soft play facilities and ball pit. This area also enables us to provide the indoor use of ride-on equipment when the weather is unsuitable for outdoor play.

SPECIAL NEEDS

We are very happy to consider all applications to place children with Special Needs both physical and educational.

COMMUNICATION

We appreciate the importance of knowing what your child has learned and experienced during their time here. Each staff member acts as Key Worker for a small group of children within each age group. Your child's Key worker will keep you informed on sleep, toileting, eating and activities undertaken through the day. This is done through informal chats, though reinforced via daily written summaries. Once children approach school age, Tiny Beginnings arrange visits to receiving schools in order to help with transition at this sensitive time.

HEALTHY EATING

Children enjoy lunchtimes at Tiny Beginnings. Our qualified cook provides nutritional, balanced meals. A two course meal is provided within the cost of a morning session, as is a nutritious mid-morning snack. Children attending afternoon sessions are provided with a High Tea, mid afternoon, at no extra charge. Children are encouraged to taste a range of foods, which reflect a diversity of cultural traditions. We strive to ensure that meal times are happy, social events where children are encouraged to develop good manners and appropriate hygiene routines. Of course drinking water is available to children throughout the day.

TINIES GROUP

0-2 years

The baby room provides ample space to crawl and explore in a safe and secure setting. We aim to provide a nurturing and homely environment in which your child’s daily routine is followed as closely as possible through close liaison with parents. Activities and experiences offered in this age group are based on Birth to Three Matters, a framework to support children in their earliest years. Young children learn through bringing all their senses to bear on their surroundings. We offer a range of activities, which reflect this. Ratios of one adult to three children also allow staff to promote language development through talking, singing and periods of one to one play. We aim to give children a flying start in all aspects of their development.
