PROPERTIES UNDER RENOVATION TARGETED BY BURGLARS
Police in Monmouthshire are advising residents having building work or renovations carried out on their homes to take extra measures to keep their property secure.
Police are investigating several incidents where burglars have gained access to properties by taking advantage of lapses in household security due to ongoing building alterations.
Residents are advised to take every step possible to ensure their property is kept secure by boarding up windows and not leaving tools or valuable items on display either in the garden or through windows. It is also a good idea to notify your neighbours of any renovations you are undertaking so that they can keep any eye out for any suspicious activity.
If you do witness any suspicious activity in your street or would like further crime prevention advice please do not hesitate to contact Gwent Police on 01633 838111. In an emergency always dial 999.
