Wyesham Wanderers Junior Football Club
This is to be a community based project as well as just
playing football.
It is open to everyone from the age of 5 upwards regardless
of sex, religion, colour and ethic group.
We have partnered up with the school to help the kids in a
number of ways:
It gives the kids a great understanding of team spirit and
team building. This will hopefully take
them on through to secondary school.
They will obviously be getting exercise, fresh air and get
them off the old computer games for an hour or so.
They would improve their football skills, which would
benefit the school also.
We hold fundraising events, which the kids love - we are
currently putting together an Easter egg hunt and have already had a disco for
the kids. We are talking about summer
trips down to the coast and other trips and activities.
There is not a great deal for the kids of Wyesham to do so
this is something extra and was why the club was created.
It promotes family culture, as many parents would be involved
and watching.
We intend to hold quiz nights and other events for the
parents
Matches usually take place on a Sunday morning and we would
be in the east Gwent league. Every child
who turns up on the Sunday will be getting a game.
Training currently takes place on a Thursday evening from
6-7 at a cost of £1.00 per person on the boys school Astroturf
Obviously we are a non-profit club so any monies raised go
back into the club and community. We are
always looking for sponsors and Royal Mail and Mel Wheeler of MGM sports have
already sponsored two sets of kit, we have also had the Astroturf paid for by
the senior team. Clare, the owner of the
new chocolate shop (the Cacao Tree ) in Monmouth is going to provide a little
bag of chocolates for one of the teams at home games. We must also thank the Monmouth Show
committee for allowing the teams to use their ground for the pitches. We are
always on the look out for new sponsors to help with the fiancés of the club -
please contact Jason Davies by e-mail jasonsfamily@tiscali.co.uk for
more information.
This obviously takes a great deal of organisation so I would
plead with parents to put yourself forward for one of the many roles available
e.g. Coaching the kids, referees, team mangers, caterers, social event
organisers etc. If you are able to help
please contact Jason using the above e-mail address.
All involved are already proud of the boys and girls and
what has already been achieved. We look
forward to a prosperous first season.
