Monmouth Town FCThe KingfishersOne Town, One Club, One Aim
A Word from the Chairman, Cllr Lee RobsonI was asked to be the Chairman of Monmouth Town Football Club by a number of people before I finally agreed to be considered for the position. (Quite rightly I still have to be elected every year by the Club membership!). I agreed to do the job on the condition that we aim as high as we can and stake our claim to be an established club in the Welsh League within five years.
That was two years ago and with a terrific management team and some talented young players we have achieved that first step in very short order. We now have to consolidate our position, look how we can sustain our success and build on it to climb even higher. In my view Football Clubs rely on the critical ‘3Fs’ of footballers, finance and facilities. Getting all three improving in ‘sync’ creates the right environment and culture within a club which in turn will help it thrive and continue to grow. Here at Monmouth we have started to make sure we will have regular and reliable income through our membership of the Athletic Club and our new lottery. We are developing an approach to youth football to ‘grow and own’ and have appointed a Director of Football to oversee all of our footballing activities. Ocver the past two years we steadily improved our facilities and will look to improve even further. My usual appeal is for anyone who feels they can help in any way to let me know and we can put your energy (or money) to good use. In other pages of this website are details of how you can sponsor the club, join the lottery and of course where you can watch us this season. I know that we will be credit to the Welsh League this season on and off the pitch and hope that all of our visitors enjoy the experience of visiting our town and our Club. It just remains for me to say to everyone to enjoy the football this season wherever you play or watch and however you are involved. Yours in football Robbo |
