MINISTERS NEED TO REASSURE VIEWERS OVER DIGITAL TV COVERAGE
To mark the 12-month run-up before
the official switchover from analogue to digital in Monmouthshire, local Welsh
Assembly Member, Nick Ramsay, has written to the Heritage Minister, Alun Ffred
Jones AM, expressing his concern for viewers who will not be able to access
certain channels before or after the deadline.
Nick has questioned the Minister on the number households that will not receive digital TV coverage after the switchover.
The local AM is also seeking information on any discussions the Welsh
Assembly Government has had with the Wenvoe transmitter group regarding the
impact of the planned digital television switchover for Monmouthshire.
Speaking today Nick said: "The Welsh Assembly Government needs to work with colleagues at Westminster and with Wenvoe to tackle the pockets who will potentially not be able to receive coverage after switchover.
"Not only do they need to deal with the problem of lack of reception, ministers in Cardiff and London also need to ensure everyone in Monmouthshire is prepared for the digital switchover who are unaware of how this change will affect them.
"I am keen to know what exactly the Welsh Assembly Government is doing to help TV viewers in my constituency who may not receive certain channels in just one year's time."
