AM SUPPORTS ADVOCACY ACTION WALES
National
Assembly Member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, is lending his support to Advocacy
Action Wales, a specialist advocacy service for people with learning
disabilities who have complex needs or communication difficulties.
Nick has
been contacted by Advocacy Action Wales, who are seeking match funding to
enable their grant funding from the Welsh Assembly to continue after the end of
this month.
Speaking
earlier today Nick said: "Advocacy Action Wales provide a valuable
service to some of society's most vulnerable people, including many of my
Monmouthshire constituents. I believe it would be a great shame if this service
no longer existed.
"I have written to
Edwina Hart AM, the Minister for Health and Social Services at the National
Assembly for Wales, requesting that Advocacy Action Wales be granted additional
time to resolve its funding problem."
Nick
added: "I hope this request will be
permitted to allow further time for funding to be secured.
"I
have offered my support to Advocacy Action Wales whose valuable service should
not be lost to those who rely on the organisation for specialist advocacy
services."
