AM SIGNS CHRISTMAS MESSAGE OF HOPE
NATIONAL Assembly Member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, has taken part in Amnesty International's Greetings Cards Campaign, held at the Welsh Assembly, to celebrate International Human Rights Day and the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
Local AM Nick, who sent a card to an African political prisoner, said, "At this time of year, as we are looking forward to spending time with our loved ones and friends, we should spare a thought for those people suffering human rights abuses.
"If we are serious about making human rights a reality then we must all play our part.
I was pleased join up with Amnesty and speak up for people whose human rights are under threat by sending a message of solidarity as part of its Greetings Card Campaign."
Cathy Owens, Amnesty International's Programme Director for Wales added, "There has been real progress since the World came together after the atrocities of World War II to establish a hopeful vision for humanity, but there is so much more to be done. Governments should take responsibility, but so must individuals."
