AM JUDGES AT SCHOOL DEBATE

NATIONAL Assembly Member for Monmouth, Nick Ramsay, was this week delighted to take part in the Rotary Youth Speaks Competition at King Henry VIII School.

Local AM Nick sat on the judges' panel during the event which saw teams of students prepare and deliver a number of short debates.

The Youth Speaks competition provides young people with the opportunity to develop interpersonal skills necessary to make public presentations in a competitive environment.

Speaking after the event Nick said: "I was pleased to be asked to come along and judge the Youth Speaks debate.

"The standard of debate was incredibly high and a wide range of topics were covered during the course of the evening. All the teams did really well, which made my job as an adjudicator all the more difficult!

"I am pleased that the winning team will now have a chance to take their debating skills forward to the next level of the competition and I would like to wish them all the best."
