Raglan pupils' compost bin win

Pupils at Raglan VC Primary School were awarded with the prize for Monmouthshire's best designed compost bin this week.

The school's ‘com-post bin' was designed by pupils to look like a post box where pupils can post their peelings, fruit and garden waste.

Monmouthshire County Council's Recycling Officer, Rebecca Blount, said:

"I was very impressed by the imaginative and inspiring entries we had but there had to be an overall winner and this was outstanding.

"The skill that the children displayed in making their compost bin look like a post box is great. It's so attractive I'm sure all the pupils at Raglan VC Primary will want to compost their waste."

Lucinda Merrett, 9, who created the design for the compost bin, picked up the certificate and £50 in gardening vouchers for the school.

Castle Park and Usk Primary were also awarded £35 each in gardening vouchers for their impressive entries.
