Local
author tells tales on World Book Day
Year 7 pupils from
Chepstow Comprehensive enjoyed hair-raising stories and gruesome tales with
local author Daniel Morden on World Book Day (5th March 2009).
Daniel, who lives in
Abergavenny, has been telling stories for twenty years and came to Chepstow
Comprehensive to give the pupils a few snippets from his book ‘Dark Tales from
the Woods.'
Daniel's passion for books
is clear:
"I love telling stories and
I want to reproduce the experiences I had as a kid. I want to share my
enthusiasm for books and remind everyone of how wonderful libraries are. In the
South Wales valleys especially, people paid
out of their own money to get libraries resourced and communities really valued
them. I want people to go and use the excellent resources that are available to
them. If I want to kill some time, that's what I do. There's always something
to do at the library."
School librarian Maggie was
also thrilled with Daniel's visit,
"It
was a real treat for us to have Daniel come and visit. The pupils really
enjoyed themselves and talked about it all day. He really was inspiring."
