Landlords encouraged to
keep tenants warm
Monmouthshire tenants shivering in cold, unheated homes may be a thing of the past thanks to an initiative that will see
landlords working with tenants to get available grants for cavity and loft insulation and heating upgrades.
The initiative is a joint venture between Monmouthshire County Council and the South East Wales Energy Advice Centre (SEWEAC).
Ian Bakewell, Monmouthshire County Council's Housing Manager, said:
"Tenants in the private rented sector are the most likely to have poorly insulated homes, so this initiative should
improve their comfort and their finances."
"Leaflets and enquiry forms which will be sent to all known private landlords and tenants will direct them to SEWEAC who
can access grants under various government and industry funded schemes.
"There's even a tax benefit for landlords who do not leave their tenants out in the cold!"
Enquiries about the scheme should be made to SEWEAC on 0800 622 6110.
