Kymin View praised by inspectors
A new Monmouth school has “outstanding” arrangements for children moving onto secondary school and has an effective and imaginative use of stimulating resources to enhance pupils’
learning, according to inspectors.
Kymin View Primary School was inspected by Estyn in March and governors and staff are extremely pleased with the contents of the first inspection report for the school.
Head Teacher of the school, Suzanne Gooding, said:
"We are delighted that the report was so positive about the progress made during the first 18 months of the life of the school, and the direction the school can now take.
"The inspectors said that the school has made good progress and that arrangements to help the youngest children settle into the school, and those for year 6 pupils moving to the secondary school are "outstanding".
"We are very pleased that the report highlighted how we use all the outstanding features of our new building to enhance the learning of all pupils, taking advantage of the ‘green' features of the school.
"We pride ourselves on the high standards of behaviour of our pupils and we're pleased inspectors saw that pupils "have a clear understanding of what is expected of them, and are considerate and courteous towards others." The Kymin View "Ffrindiau" and School Council make sure that ever pupil has a happy playtime and they wear their tabards with pride."
The provision for Nursery and
Reception children was identified as a "real strength".
Mrs Gooding said:
"The dedication and quality of our Early Years staff was celebrated in the report and the high quality of the
teaching at Kymin View was acknowledged, and was seen to have outstanding features".
"The inspectors noted that everyone involved in the school is committed to its further development and success. We
will ensure that the school continues to make progress, enabling pupils to achieve their full potential."
