Improved services for
children and young people
People in Monmouthshire can now view
planned improvements in services for children and young people in the
county in a document that was drawn up Monmouthshire's Children and Young People's
Partnership and that is available on Monmouthshire County Council's website.
The Children and Young People's Plan shows
how services such as health, the police, social services, schools and voluntary
organisations will work together to help those who are vulnerable or in need
and sets targets for improvement up to 2011.
Areas covered include:
- more support for families with very young
children
- increased play opportunities
- improved access to sexual health services
- activities to prevent young people
smoking
- work to reduce the impact of bullying
- better information and help for parents
Peter
Fox, leader of Monmouthshire Council, praised the plan:
"The Children and Young People's Plan is a
very clear document, written in plain English, that describes why and how we
are prioritising services for children and young people in Monmouthshire.
"We asked many children and young people
what they thought of the draft version of the plan and we included their
suggestions in this final version."
"All the services involved in producing this plan are committed to improving
children and young people's chances and our partnership believes that respect,
fairness and social justice are the foundations for what we do"
