Deadline for Monmouth plan feedback looms
Monmouth residents have three weeks to let Monmouthshire County Council know their views on a new action plan that set out a vision for the future of the town.
The plan - ‘Vision Monmouth - Planning for the Future' - is a collection of projects that MCC hope will enhance Monmouth's economy, heritage and community.
People interested in the plan must submit their comments by January 30th. The document and questionnaires are available in Monmouth One Stop Shop and Monmouth Library and the council
website at www.monmouthshire.gov.uk/visionmonmouth. The council will also be arranging a public consultation event in the town on the 24th January.
Mayor of Monmouth, Terry Christopher, said:
"It's a golden opportunity for the
people of Monmouth to express their ideas on the future of their town. I would
like to encourage younger people to express their ideas on how they would like
to see their town develop during the coming years".
Included in the plan are projects that are
MCC-led and also initiatives that are being led by other organisations.
Examples of schemes in the ‘Vision Monmouth'
plan are:
-
Monnow Bridge Gatehouse, which will restore the
gatehouse to promote tourism
-
The Portal
Road development, which aims to provide a
significant hotel or business use development together with coach parking
-
Shopmobilty, where scooters and wheelchairs
will be provided for those with mobility problems
The
purpose of the document is to clearly outline a shared view of Monmouthshire
County Council and its partners about projects that will improve the prosperity
of the town.
