Council compost bin
giveaway
To celebrate National Composting
Awareness Week Monmouthshire County Council have a limited number of free compost bins to give away to residents on a first come first serve basis.
The offer runs until 9th May. When the free compost bins run out, there are still subsidised bins on
offer starting from £5.
National Composting Awareness Week will be celebrated nationwide from 3rd to 9th of May 2009.
The aim of the campaign is to encourage
people to recognise the benefits of making compost at home.
Monmouthshire County Council's Recycling
Officer, Rebecca Blount said:
"Over one third of an average household bin
can be composted at home, not to mention all the garden waste that can be added
to a compost bin. Yet many people still do not realise how important and simple
this is to do.
"You can reduce waste going to landfill and
make great compost and then use it to grow your own vegetables."
