Gibraltar Care Village Makes Healthcare Award Finals
Gibraltar
Care Village,
Monmouth, has reached the finals of a prestigious industry awards scheme
designed to recognise excellence in healthcare architecture and design.
Being chosen as a finalist in the Pinders Healthcare Design
Awards means that the home has been recognised as one of the top three Care
Village developments in the UK - in only its first year of opening.
The accolade also brings £500 for a charity chosen by the
development. Since the Village is recognised as a pioneer in innovative care
for people with dementia, Village Manager Stephane Beaumont was quick to
nominate the Alzheimer's Society to receive the donation.
Neil Hunt, Chief
Executive of Alzheimer's Society said: "It is absolutely fantastic that PSP
Healthcare have picked Alzheimer's Society to be their chosen charity. This
donation will help us to provide support for people with dementia across the UK
through our network of support services, telephone helpline and research
programme. I would like to wish everyone at PSP Healthcare the best of luck for
the competition."
Stephane added "It's a great honour to receive this
nomination, particularly as the Village has only been open for one year. Having
said that, I'd love to win!
"So much thought has gone into this development at every
stage to make it a beautiful and practical place to live, and it's nice to have
that recognised."
The award is run by Pinders, a consultancy and surveying
firm, in association with Healthcare Business, the leading trade magazine for
the healthcare sector.
Jon Chapman, judging the awards, said "We received an
astonishing number of high quality entries this year, but our finalists stood
out in terms of the aesthetics and grand scheme of their design but also the
details which made it particularly suitable for their market."
The next stage of the judging will be a visit
from architecture and healthcare professionals to assess the development ‘in
the flesh' before the final winner is announced in 2010.
