Easter Fun At Gibraltar Care
Village
Residents at the
award-winning Gibraltar Care Village, in Monmouth, celebrated Easter in style
this week with a treasure hunt and some marvellous millinery.
The weekend kicked
off with an Easter egg hunt in the grounds of the purpose-built 95-bed dementia
nursing home, followed by a roast dinner in the ‘a la carte' restaurant, which
was decorated for the occasion using banners made by residents during the
home's arts and crafts sessions.
Residents and their
families, along with occupants of the site's 36 private retirement properties,
tucked into lamb with all the trimmings before an afternoon tea of hot cross
buns. The highlight of the day, however, was the intervening Easter bonnet
parade, when some of the home's residents had the chance to showcase the
bonnets they had made during March's activity sessions.
A member of the
clergy was also in attendance over the holiday to deliver a sermon on the true
meaning of Easter.
Home Manager Stephane Beaumont commented: "As ever we have the
care team to thank for a wonderful Easter - bank holiday or no, our kitchen
team, domestic staff and carers will be in attendance to make sure everything
goes smoothly."
