Drugs Arrests:

As the result of a number of warrants executed in the Monmouth area by the Monmouth Neighbourhood Police Team, assisted by officers from Abergavenny and the Force Dog Section, four local men were arrested and detained in custody for possessing illegal substances. During the search of the properties a quantity of Ketamine and Cannabis was seized.

Two of the four were cautioned and the other two a decision is pending following further enquiries.

Information sought after the theft of three guitars from the Bridgend Inn, Gilwern overnight, Saturday 6th to Sunday 7th June. The guitars are described as follows:

A Gibson SG new century;

A Fender Telecaster Thinline, this has a black strap with red Japanese writing thereon; and A Fender Jaguar base, this is red with a red strap.

Between 6pm Saturday 13th and 6pm Sunday 14th June, the front number plate was removed from a vehicle in St Mary's Road, Osbaston. The plate was recovered nearby broken in two and has been recovered for forensic analysis.

Sometime between the middle of May and yesterday, Sunday 14th June, five cattle hurdles and three farm gates were stolen from a farm in the St Maughans area of Monmouth, value £950.

In the last week a number of cars have been entered, and property stolen ranging from power tools to a handbag.  PLEASE secure your vehicles at night and DO NOT leave anything of value on show. The areas concerned were Trellech, Wonastow Road and Overmonnow.

In spite of the above reports, Monmouth continues to be one of the safest places to live, work and visit, compared with other areas, but we must not be complacent and must take every sensible action to prevent crime occurring and to report suspicious incidents.
