Incidents:

At 9.20pm on Wednesday 28th January, an armed robbery occurred at the Ladbroke's Betting shop on Monnow Street, Monmouth, whereby the cashier was threatened by a male with a knife. The offender got away with a quantity of cash. He was described as 5' 8", stocky build, with a Cardiff accent, wearing a black balaclava with a scarf around his mouth and a dark blue tracksuit top with a sky blue stripe across the chest and down the arms. The following day a 41 year old Cardiff man was arrested and charged with the Monmouth offence and a number of similar offences in the South Wales Police area.

Crimes:

Between 1am and 8.30am Thursday 29th January, a ‘Pitbike' 110cc Mini motorbike, black in colour valued at £200, was stolen from the Brook Estate area of Monmouth. It had been chained and padlocked. (Crime Ref. No. BM/106/09)

Between 9am and 3.30pm on Friday 30th January, a car was broken into parked in Agincourt Street, Monmouth. Two bags of shopping and a musical instrument were stolen. (Crime Ref. No. BM/113/09)

Overnight, Monday 2nd to Tuesday 3rd February, Wigmore's Bakery in St Mary's Street, Monmouth was broken into and cash stolen. (Crime Ref. No. BM/123/09)

A Monmouth man, Owen Alderdice, 19, appeared in Newport Crown Court last Thursday, 29th January, on charges of perverting the course of justice. This was in relation to a previous drink drive charge in 2008, during which he had lied to the court. He received a total of eight months custody in a Young Offenders Institute.
