A message from BBC Radio Wales presenter Chris Needs MBE

I am writing to you to ask your readers to have a Care for a Cuppa party to raise vital funds for Diabetes UK Cymru.

I am one of the 146,000 people diagnosed with diabetes in Wales and I was shocked to discover I had the condition nine years ago.

By having a Care for a Cuppa party, your readers will help Diabetes UK Cymru to support people living with diabetes throughout Wales.

Money raised will also fund research into the condition and help the charity to raise awareness of the symptoms as 50,000 people in Wales are thought to have diabetes and not know it.

A Care For A Cuppa party is a fun event for family and friends which can be held at home, at work, in your local community centre or any other venue.

Diabetes UK Cymru will send everyone who holds a party a free party planner pack, which includes invitations, posters and even a collection box.

The parties are easy to plan and all you need is to decide on a venue and invite as many guests along as possible.

You can ask guests to make a donation for every cup of tea or biscuit or you could ask for an entry donation.
