Monmouth Cricket Juniors
THE
junior players of Monmouth Cricket Club have been shining in their
Herefordshire Youth League matches this summer.
The
club's under-11, under-13 and under-15 teams have been in impressive form as
the junior season heads into the final stages.
Monmouth
Under-15s sit top of the league after their previous two games were cancelled
by the opposition.
They
host Brockhampton on July 4 before travelling to Colwall in what could be a
title decider.
Monmouth
Under-13s are handily placed for a late charge for league honours after
thrashing Eastnor by eight wickets.
After
winning the toss and electing to bowl, Monmouth produced a solid fielding
display to restrict Eastnor to 87-6 from their 20 overs. Monmouth were
brilliantly led by skipper Matthew Paul (1-11 from 4 overs).
In
reply, Monmouth's openers Max Pye (26 runs from 26 balls) and Ben Butt (24 from
23) led the charge as the hosts roared to victory in 11 overs. They travel to
Wormelow in their next outing.
Monmouth
Under-11s bounced back from a disappointing defeat at Eastnor to claim an
emphatic 59-run win over rivals Wormelow.
Monmouth
posted an impressive 132-4 with Henry Damon (33 from 33) and George Goldsmith
(31 from 13) striking form with the bat.
Goldsmith
then claimed three wickets as Monmouth eased to victory despite finishing with
seven men in the outfield. Monmouth host Colwall in their next fixture and will
be looking to continue their winning form.
