MONMOUTH Cricket Club will be embracing the Twenty20
phenomenon this summer
The club have lined up 20-overs-a-side matches against
Abergavenny, Ross, Tintern, Wormelow, Old Monmothians and Monmouth Mowers.
The shortened version of the game is hugely popular at
professional and international levels and Monmouth's players are looking
forward to the all-action format.
Monmouth, of course, used to compete in the Forest
of Dean Midweek League and
should be familiar with the shortened version.
Monmouth, sponsored by JD Wetherspoon, had a good turn-out
to their first pre-season net session for senior players.
The club had some new and returning faces among the 14
players who shook off their winter rustiness for an encouraging training
session.
The indoor nets, which are initially booked for four
sessions, continue on Friday (February 19) at Monmouth School Sports
Complex from 6.30pm to 8pm.
Due to the half-term break, there will not be any nets on
Friday, February 26, so the third session is scheduled for March 5.
