MONMOUTH Cricket Club seam bowler Jonathan Roberts is top of the league
Roberts has finished top of the Crusader Worcestershire
County League Division 2 bowling averages.
He snapped up 35 league wickets last summer at an average of
13.34 to take the division's leading bowling prize from second-placed C Bourne
(Pedmore).
Monmouth batsman David Teague also excelled, coming third in
the Division 2 batting averages with 715 runs at an average of 47.67.
The duo were Monmouth's stand-out performers in the 2009 end-of-season
divisional averages published last week.
Two of Monmouth's second team players, Andy Thomas and Adam
Roberts, also won plaudits for their fine displays last summer.
Thomas was the runner-up in the 2nd XI Division 2
bowling averages after taking 16 wickets at a cost of just 13.13.
Newcomer Roberts finished third in the 2nd XI
Division 2 batting averages after hitting 368 runs at 52.57.
Monmouth, who are sponsored by JD Wetherspoon, had a mixed
season on the pitch with both teams securing mid-table positions in their
respective divisions.
Other leading Monmouth players who feature in the league
averages are: Division 2 batting: 20th Josh Grey (343 runs at 31.18), 25th Andy
McGuire (466 runs at 29.13), 42nd Paul Swingwood (309 runs at 23.77), 46th Dan Head (328 runs at 21.87). Division 2 bowling: 30th
McGuire (25 wickets at 25), 33rd Swingwood (17 wickets at 25.12), 36th Aled
Jones (20 wickets at 26.95). Division 2 catching: 8th Teague (10 catches), 22nd
Tej Saran (7 catches), 26th Roberts (6 catches), 32nd Swingwood (5 catches).
Division 2 wicket-keeping: 6th Head
(18 dismissals - 16 catches and 2 stumpings). 2nd XI Division 2
wicket-keeping: 5th Jon Despontin (10 dismissals - 6 catches and 4 stumpings).
Monmouth Cricket Club are on the look-out for new junior and
