 David Davies ExperienceDavid has considerable political experience, having served as both a Member of Parliament and a Member of the National Assembly over the last eight years.
He became the only Conservative elected by 'first past the post' to the Assembly in 1999 with a 2,500 majority. Following the second Assembly elections in 2003 he was again the only Conservative to win outright with a majority of 8,500.
A Welsh speaker, in 2001 David became the first elected Conservative politician to appear with Welsh language organisation Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg at a public meeting.
He stood down as an Assembly Member in May 2007 but was elected as Member of Parliament for Monmouth in May 2005.
